A specific seminar enabled the Ministry of Education of Mozambique to better understand the opportunities offered by lightning protection technics for buildings.
After an introduction to the lightning phenomenon, protection means and their possibilities were presented (surge protectiev devices , lightning rod , thunderstorm warning systems … ) .
Finally a discussion of the needs of the department has identified areas for studies and the most urgent real needs.
For now the Ministry wants to solve problems existing in the field and also to implement a protection policy on new or existing facilities ( schools …) .
The meeting ended with a visit to a site that is frequently struck by lightning and a lightning study is to be launched.
